Good news, www.bravemen.org is becoming a more friendly website for the visually impaired.  Thanks to a collaborative effort with Don Maurer, most, if not all of the features of our site work with a common software package (known as JAWS) that visually impaired folks use to navigate the worlds of computers.  Don has written the following guidelines to assist users of JAWS in how to play Bruce’s audio clips.

Brothers,

Here’s how to access Bruce’s audio files with JAWS.

When the page loads, JAWS announces the number of links on the page.

  1. Hit the “page down” key four times.  You will hear JAWS read the Introduction to Spiritual Gifts Motivations.
  2. Hit the tab key.  You will hear JAWS read the titles of the handouts, which are in PDF format.  Press “enter” to access them.  (Requires Adobe reader 8 or higher.)
  3. If you tab past the handouts, you will notice that JAWS  is silent for the next few  strokes of the tab key.  These are the audio files.  Because the files use the Adobe Flash plug-in, JAWS does not announce or recognize the links to the audio files.  However, they may be accessed using the JAWS cursor.  When you encounter the first silent link, or however many there are,    press the JAWS cursor (the top key on the right), and press “enter.”  The audio file should start playing.  You must press the JAWS cursor before entering:  otherwise, the file will not play.
